Particle distribution images, stable isotope coccolith fraction data and size separated coccolith fraction size measurement data, IODP Expedition 363 Site U1482

This dataset contains size separate coccolith stable isotope results (oxygen and carbon), size separated coccolith area differences and images/analysis for size separated coccolith smear slides for samples from IODP Expedition 363, Site U1482, spanning from the recent to the late Miocene. Site U1482 is located on the northwest Australian margin, on the Scott Plateau, at 15°3.32ʹS, 120°26.10ʹE in 1466 m water depth

Statement

Methodology for size separated coccolith fraction: samples were washed through a 63um then a 20um laboratory sieve using DI water, with the < 20um material collected. This material was then centrifuged in 50mL centrifuge tubes for 6 minutes at 4000rpm. Once the sample was spun down, the remaining clear water (checked for clarity) was poured off, with the sample being left to dry in a drying cabinet overnight. The remaining dried bullet shape sample was then split with a scalpel into the different size fractions. In this dataset, the VF and VC fraction were concentrated on. Particle distribution and particle size analysis was conducted by ImageJ software, using smear slides.
