Statement

The data were collated from published datasets produced by various ocean drilling programs; Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) Legs 31 and 87, Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) Legs 131, 190, 196, Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Expeditions 314, 315, 316, 319, 322, 326, 332, 333, 338, 348, and International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Expeditions 358, 365, 370, 380. Detailed location and drill hole/core information (e.g., water/drill depths, approximate core age and main lithology) at the drill sites along the Ashizuri, Muroto and Kumano transects are available on the map view website ( https://www.kochi-core.jp/iodp-curation/core-sample/corecollection_map.html). The compilation includes all data where quantification of frictional properties from depths < ~250 meters below seafloor (mbsf) was made. For more detail please see the associated paper D. R.
