Statement

Mixtures of olivine (80 wt.%) and orthopyroxene (20 wt.%) powder were pressed into capsules with 20 μl deuterium oxide. The capsules were sealed and heated to 1000-1300 °C under confining pressures of 300 MPa-2 GPa at the University of Manchester. Post-experiment the samples were polished and carbon coated before electron backscatter diffraction data was collected on an SEM at the University of Liverpool.
