Bioleaching methods consist of organic acid bioleaching (Aspergillus), reductive bioleaching (Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans) and oxidative bioleaching (A. ferrooxidans). Bioleaching experiments were conducted at the British Geological Survey to assess the potential for bauxite to recover rare earth elements from bauxite.
