The purpose was to carry out trials of cable-controlled drilling submersible Consub and collect geophysical data for identification of potential drill sites. Sea floor data were collected using echo-sounder and sidescan sonar. These data are archived by BGS. Details of the survey are contained in IGS Annual Report 1974.
