    Statement

The survey was undertaken by Hartley Anderson Limited as part of the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change's Offshore Energy Strategic Environmental Assessment programme. Quantitative seabed sampling was carried out using a 0.1m2 Van Veen grab. Three Van Veen samples were taken from each sample location. Two replicate Van Veen samples were processed for macrofaunal analysis by sieving through nested 5mm, 1.0mm and 0.5mm mesh and fixed in 10% formalin, stained with Rose Bengal. A single sample was sub-sampled for chemical and particle size analysis, with 6cm diameter cores also taken for meiofaunal analysis at selected stations. A camera frame was deployed at each sample location or photography transect, equipped with OE1366 colour video camera, SDS3000 digital stills camera and OE1130 300W light.
