Nirex granted the Survey a licence to use and to allow third parties to use the data for bona fide academic or educational purposes. Commercial organisations wishing to use the data should, in the first place, apply to The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) for access to the archives. A fee may be payable to the British Geological Survey for access to the data.

Data capture 1989-1997. The collection of data is complete as far as possible. Some data on obscure media or unknown formats may be obtained from their original format some later stage. The digital data from most of geophysical logs and surveys carried out by Nirex are held by the BGS. A few tapes, in unknown formats or are un-readable, have been retained. The remainder have deen copied onto DLT tapes for long term storage.

Statement

The data were obtained by Nirex during their investigations at Sellafield and Dounreay. All acquisition,handling and subsequent data analysis were carried out to BS 5750 pt 1 or BS EN ISO 9001
