Chemical data for River waters and sequential extractions from river sediments (NERC grant NE/K000705/1)
Paired water and river sediment samples were collected from Vietnam Australia, Cambodia and Nepal. Waters were analysed for major ions, Sr isotopes and Mg isotopes. Sediments were sequentially extracted using ammonium chloride, acetic acid and hydrochloric acid to target exchangeable ions, calcite and dolomite respectively. They were analysed for major ions and selected isotopes.

Majors ions were analysed by ICP-OES against synthetic calibration lines. Sr isotopes were measured either by TIMS (VG Sector 54) or Neptune MC-ICP-MS in Cambridge. Uncertainties are better than 25ppm for both methods. Mg isotopes were measured using a Neptune MC-ICP-MS in Cambridge using DSM3 as a bracketing standard.
