The full width half maxima (FWHM) of the aragonite Raman v1 band is a proxy of the saturation state of the media from which the aragonite skeleton precipitates and is used to infer changes in the biomineralisation environment of marine calcifiers. Select specimens were embedded in epoxy resin and polished to form mounts. Raman spectra were collected using a Renishaw In-ViaTM QontorTM Raman microscope using a NIR 300 mW 785 nm solid state laser set at 5% full power and with a 1200 1/mm grating. The full width half maxima (FWHM) of the v1 band in the aragonite spectrum was used to indicate disorder around the carbonate group in the mineral lattice. The FWHM was estimated by fitting the v1 band between 1060 and 1120 wavenumbers with a Voigt fit using the software Origin 2026. Age dating of specimens is ongoing.
