Seismic waveform data from the UK National Seismometer Network

This is the raw data collected by the stations of the UK National Seismometer Network. Continuous data is stored as day long miniSEED files on the Edinburgh LINUX filesystem. Data is present for 170 past and present stations, with the oldest data dating from 2001 and new data being added in near real-time. This data is accessible via the BGS EIDA node (eida.bgs.ac.uk). The waveform files are accompanied by metadata that allows the raw data to be converted to useful units, as well as the location of the stations. All stations are indexed but not all are still active and will be flagged accordingly.

Statement

The data was collected at stations spread throughout the UK. The vast majority of data was recorded using broadband seismometers connected to 24 bit digitisers. These instruments record ground velocity in three orthogonal directions. The three resulting channels are stored as separate files. Current stations are telemetered in real-time to Edinburgh and directly archived with a sample rate of 100 Hz.
