Core chronology was established by analysing 210Pb activity in a parallel core (LG3C). Phosphorus pools were sequentially extracted from sediments following an adapted method from Pfahler (2020). The isolated HCl-P fraction used for isotopic analysis, through conversion to silver phosphate (Ag3PO4) using an adapted method of Tamburini et al (2010). ~300 μg of dried precipitate was analysed for δ18O-PO4 using a Thermo Finnigan pyrolysis elemental analyser at 1,400°C, coupled to a Delta + XL mass spectrometer at NEIF-BGS. δ18O-PO4 values were calculated by comparison to an internal standard, which has been calibrated against a commercial Ag3PO4 standard “B2207” (Elemental Microanalysis Ltd., England), with a typical precision σ≤ 0.4‰ from triplicates.
