The North of Celtic Deep rMCZ survey was carried out during 7th – 9th February 2012 on the RV CEFAS Endeavour cruise CEND 03/12. Multibeam bathymetry and backscatter data were collected in between sampling stations. These data are archived with the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) Data Archive Centres (DACs) including the British Geological Survey (BGS) DAC for geology and geophysics, The Archive for Marine Species and Habitats Data (DASSH) and the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) bathymetry DAC. The full site data package including raw is also available on request from BGS.

Sample equipment types used included: Grab: Amon or Hamon. CEFAS was contracted to undertake the survey on behalf of Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Data processing was undertaken using Caris HIPS package and GSF files were produced for data visualisation in IVS3D Fledermaus and data analysis in ArcGIS. Prior to this survey a new multibeam echosounder was installed alongside the existing EM3002D system. The Kongsberg EM2040 was operated simultaneously during this survey, but at times interference with the EM3002D was experienced whilst trialling different settings. Whereas the EM3002D was originally chosen as the primary system, at times it was necessary to use the EM2040 data due to EM3002D data being unuseable. The final data presented is therefore a combination of the data from both systems.
