These were examined under a light microscope. Specimens of the foraminifer Neogloboquadrina atlantica were identified and the number of left and right-coiling specimens counted, usually up to a total of 50 specimens, occasionally more and sometimes fewer if specimens were rare. The percentage of right-coiling specimens was calculated as well as the 95% confidence interval using the Modified Wald Method for estimating the confidence interval of a proportion.
